The American Association of Colleges of Pharmacy (AACP), a growing national health-professions education association located in Alexandria, Va. seeks a Vice President for Graduate Education, Research, and Scholarship (GERS).
Founded in 1900, AACP is the national organization representing pharmacy education in the United States. The mission of the Association is to both represent and be an advocate for all segments of the academic community in the profession of pharmacy. AACP is comprised of all accredited colleges and schools with pharmacy degree programs accredited by the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education, including approximately 52,000 professional degree students, 5,400 students enrolled in graduate studies and more than 5,900 full-time faculty.
The Vice President for Graduate Education, Research and Scholarship serves as the Chief Scientific Officer (CSO) for the American Association of Colleges of Pharmacy. The CSO serves as the liaison and spokesperson for AACP and the Academy with federal agencies and private entities that fund research and graduate education across the spectrum of the pharmaceutical sciences. The Vice President is the strategic liaison between AACP and its members in the areas of graduate education, research, research funding and graduate program evaluation. The office informs members of funding opportunities and of changes in federal or foundation programs that may impact their graduate or research programs. Other responsibilities include: development and implementation of programs in the areas of faculty development and evaluation (i.e., grant writing), graduate student recruitment, and international graduate education that stimulates collaboration between member and international institutions.
Education, training, experience:
Qualified candidates shall have significant academic experience and involvement in research and graduate education. Professional doctoral or graduate degree or other relevant scientific qualifications required. The CSO is part of the executive leadership team of AACP reporting to the Executive Vice President and CEO.
