Massachusetts College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences, founded in 1823, is a coeducational college offering graduate, professional and undergraduate degrees in the health sciences. As a private and independent institution with a long and distinguished history, the College provides traditional and non-traditional programs of study that serve the needs of the community. With campuses in Boston and Worcester, Massachusetts, and Manchester, New Hampshire, the College enrolls over 4000 students, who are drawn from 41 states and 34 foreign countries, and employs approximately 400 faculty and staff.
The School of Pharmacy at MCPHS, Boston campus, invites applications for the position of Chair, Department of Pharmacy Practice. Comprised of 43 full time faculty members, five residents and one fellow, the Department is charged with delivering the entry-level Doctor of Pharmacy Degree Program as the Post-Baccalaureate Doctor of Pharmacy Pathway. In addition to standard faculty obligations, the primary responsibilities of the Department Chair are to function as an effective member of the Pharmacy Administrative Committee, to serve as an academic and professional leader, and to perform as an efficient manager of Departmental matters including faculty and staff hiring and development, course coordination, facilitating research and scholarly activities, evaluating faculty performances and courses, and monitoring departmental budget.
Education, training, experience:
The successful candidate must have an earned PharmD degree and a Residency and meet the criteria for appointment to the rank of full professor. The candidate must have or be eligible to obtain pharmacist licensure in Massachusetts within the first year of employment, and should have excellent interpersonal and leadership skills, a record of scholarly activity, a demonstrated record of funded research and the ability to foster collaborative and interdisciplinary initiatives with the medical communities of Boston. The Chair will have vision and dedication to continue developing the department into national prominence.
