The College of Pharmacy, Washington State University invites applications for the position of Chair, Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences (available July 1, 2011). Applicants must have a Ph.D. in Pharmacology, Pharmaceutical Sciences, or a related discipline, and a track record of experience and accomplishment as a scholar and educator consistent with appointment at the rank of Full Professor with tenure. In addition to serving as the chief academic officer for the department and as a member of the College’s senior leadership team, the Chair will be expected to maintain an active, extramurally-funded research program and to teach in the professional and graduate curricula.
The College of Pharmacy is co-located on WSU’s Pullman and Spokane campuses, and plans to consolidate in Spokane by 2014. The College’s intent is to substantially build its research and graduate education capacity leading up to consolidation, and the new chair of Pharmaceutical Sciences will have the opportunity to play a central role in programmatic build-up and development. Areas of interest and specialization are open, but key areas of programmatic opportunity include quantitative pharmacology, especially involving the central nervous system.
