Regional Dean – Wingate University: Asheville/Hendersonville, North Carolina Satellite Campus. Wingate University is seeking applications for the position of Regional Dean of its newly established satellite campus located in the beautiful Asheville/Hendersonville area of Western North Carolina. The Regional Dean is the chief administrative officer responsible for comprehensive doctor of pharmacy program delivery on the satellite campus, reporting and responsible to the Dean of the Wingate University School of Pharmacy. Ten fully-funded, full-time pharmacy faculty (including an experiential pharmacy practice director) and three fully-funded, full-time professional staff will comprise the full-time regional campus staff and complement a student cohort of 18 per pharmacy class (72 students when all four years of the curriculum are implemented). The strategic plan calls for the charter class to be enrolled in the program and arrive at the new facility in August 2011, pending final satellite campus accreditation approval.
Duties of the Regional Dean include (i) representing Wingate University in all local matters related to the Wingate graduate programs delivered within the region; (ii) supervision of the professional and clerical staff assigned; (iii) development of partnerships and negotiation for professional services contracts with health-systems, community pharmacies, and other organizations for education, patient care, research, and financial support within the region; (iv) collaboration with main campus assigned faculty to meet the day-to-day operational needs of the academic programs delivered on the regional campus; (v) assisting in the recruitment of students in the region; (vi) coordination of student organizations and alumni activities within the region; (vii) oversight of the business operations of the regional campus; (viii) collaboration on the recruitment, orientation, and development of faculty assigned to the region; (ix) fostering scholarly inquiry of the regional faculty; (x) serving on the Executive and Dean’s Faculty Advisory committees; (xi) teaching in assigned courses, as appropriate; (xii) participation in professional associations, and (xii) other duties as assigned by the Dean.
Qualifications include an earned doctoral degree in pharmacy or the pharmaceutical sciences and a minimum of three years relevant experience in pharmacy education. Experience administering academic programs is essential. Documented accomplishments in teaching, research, and service at a level to be appointed as a professor/associate professor in the School of Pharmacy.
