Academic - Clinical Professor
Applications are invited from qualified individuals with appropriate training and expertise for a fulltime, non-tenure-track, 12-month appointment at the rank of clinical assistant or associate professor and with the title Director of Skills Development.
Responsibilities: The major administrative responsibility involves oversight of the Mylan Center for Pharmaceutical Care Education (CPCE). The incumbent works collaboratively with faculty to provide high-quality learning experiences in the Pharmaceutical Care Laboratory (PCL) course sequence of the PharmD program with a focus on developing clinical practice skills. The faculty member coordinates skills practice in patient and physical assessment, administration of vaccines, and monitoring lab tests and vital signs; develops and conducts simulation experiences in the WV STEPS Simulation Center; maintains Mylan Center space and facilities; and fosters the development of interprofessional education at the Health Sciences Center. Service and scholarship activities are also components of the position.
Institution and Location: West Virginia University is a land grant Carnegie-designated Doctoral Research/Extensive institution, with 27,000 undergraduate and 5,500 graduate/professional students. The Health Sciences Center includes the Schools of Pharmacy, Medicine, Dentistry, and Nursing. Morgantown has 55,000 residents and is rated as one of the best small towns in the U.S. Located within 90 miles of Pittsburgh, Morgantown has affordable housing, excellent schools, a picturesque countryside, and access to a variety of four-season activities.
Education, training, experience:
Doctor of Pharmacy degree from an ACPE-accredited institution and PGY1or PGY2 pharmacy residency, with experience in community or ambulatory care pharmacy practice preferred. Pharmacy licensure in West Virginia will be required. Personal characteristics include demonstrated excellence in interpersonal and communication skills; ability to work in teams to accomplish programmatic objectives; a high level of clinical practice skills; enthusiasm for didactic and clinical teaching; and the interpersonal skills needed for interacting effectively with students, faculty, health professionals, and patients.
