Academic – Professor – Assistant/Associate/Full
Samford University’s McWhorter School of Pharmacy (MSOP) invites applications for a full-time, 12-month appointment in the Department of Pharmacy Practice at the rank of assistant, associate or full professor. This faculty appointment is non-tenure track. This is a position with clinical practice and educational responsibilities at the Perry County Health Department in Marion, Alabama, and other clinical teaching sites in Perry County, approximately 80 miles southwest of Birmingham. The faculty member will be responsible for coordinating the educational initiatives of MSOP in rural west-central Alabama. Primary activities are providing pharmacist-enabled primary and preventive care to patients and teaching MSOP students in didactic and experiential settings. The faculty member is expected to maintain a model practice of patient-centered care which will provide a rigorous base from which to teach didactic and experiential coursework and to develop a program of scholarship. Additional duties consistent with an MSOP faculty position are expected, including campus-based meeting attendance and committee service.

Education, training, experience:
Candidates should have a doctor of pharmacy degree from an ACPE accredited college/school of pharmacy (or equivalent). A residency and/or fellowship training is preferred, but not required. Eligibility for Alabama state pharmacy licensure under Alabama law is required. Previous experience in pharmacy practice centered on addressing health disparities is desired. Candidates should exhibit effective verbal and written communication, well-developed interpersonal skills, dedication to student-centered education and a commitment to the university’s Christian mission.
