The University of Tennessee Health Science Center (UTHSC) is seeking the next Dean of the College of Pharmacy. The Dean is the chief academic and administrative officer who provides overall leadership for the College of Pharmacy’s programs, administers the annual budget and serves as the principal external representative of the College. Growth of the research mission will be a major expectation for this position.
The College of Pharmacy is currently ranked 16th among colleges of pharmacy by US News and World Report, and has been ranked among the top 20 for decades. It offers a PharmD degree, a PhD in Pharmaceutical Sciences and a combined PharmD/PhD.
The College has more than 650 student pharmacists, 47 full-time clinical and 21 pharmaceutics faculty, and over 300 preceptors. The College administers the majority of its didactic and clinical education on two campuses. The main UTHSC campus in Memphis is home to the new 184,000 sq. foot state of the art education and research pharmacy facility, which houses the pharmaceutical and clinical translational science faculty. The second campus is located on the University Hospital grounds in Knoxville.
The Dean reports to the Chancellor of UTHSC and will be part of the senior leadership team. The ideal candidate will have training as a pharmacist (BS Pharmacy, PharmD, PharmD/PhD), will qualify for an appointment as full Professor in the College of Pharmacy, and will have significant prior leadership experience in academia.
