Description

The Assistant/Associate Professor of Social and Administrative Sciences provides didactic instruction to Doctoral Pharmacy students.  In addition to academic responsibilities, this faculty member is expected to assist in the professional and spiritual growth of pharmacy students.  Part of the academic responsibility is to engage in research and scholarly activity, to participate as an active member of assigned school or university committees, and to serve as faculty advisor to a group of pharmacy students…all in accordance with expectations as assigned by the chair and approved by the dean. This is a fully campus-based position with no clinical site requirements.

JOB RESPONSIBLITIES:

  • Provides didactic instruction and course coordination within assigned courses. The teaching focus for this faculty member is in courses with a Social and Administrative Science focus such as Law/Ethics, Management/Pharmacoeconomics, Communications/Professionalism, Servant-Leadership, amongst others.
  • Integrates faith and professional values into instructional activities where applicable.
  • Serves as an advisor to PharmD students as assigned.
  • Conducts research and/or scholarly activity associated with areas of his/her expertise that is either published or presented following peer review.
  • Participates actively in professional organizations associated with his/her discipline.
  • Serves as a role model of professional, servant-leader behavior to students.
  • Serves on task forces and committees as assigned.
  • Attends faculty meetings, faculty development programs and other school functions as assigned.
  • Participates in other duties as assigned in service to the school or university.
  • Represents the school at various functions.
  • Assists with faculty recruitment and student applicant interviews.


Requirements

  • PharmD JD, PhD in Pharmacy Administration, or PharmD with significant institutional management experience
  • Pharmacy residency training or Ph.D. in a specific discipline within the Pharmacy Practice/Social Administrative Sciences. Candidates must demonstrate the ability to engage in research and/or scholarly activity 
  • The Assistant/Associate Professor of Social and Administrative Sciences must be able to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing, with students, faculty, and administrators.  This person must be adept at organizing complex scientific and professional subject matter and designing instructional strategies that make the material understandable and applicable. 
  • Skill in using computer software, such as Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint is required, as is the ability to use electronic and internet educational and professional resources. 
  • A comprehensive knowledge of pharmacy practice, in a specific discipline, is essential, along with strong critical thinking skills and the ability to function effectively and collaboratively as part of an educational and research team.
  • Effective organization of duties and attention to detail, ensuring that responsibilities are completed in a timely, efficient manner.
  • Constructive, collaborative relationships, with evidence of a compassionate, cooperative spirit.
  • Effective planning, goal setting and tracking of progress to ensure optimal outcomes.
  • Evidence of Christian faith and a commitment to integrate that faith into one’s daily activities.
  • Sound clinical judgment and rational therapeutic decision-making.
  • Decisions and actions are fully congruent with the mission, vision, goals and core values of both the university and the school.
  • Effective communication, keeping people informed as needed; being receptive and approachable.
