Nova Southeastern University (www.nova.edu), located in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, invites applications for the position of Chair, Department of Pharmacy Practice, within the Barry and Judy Silverman College of Pharmacy (pharmacy.nova.edu).
The Chair will serve as the chief administrative officer of the department, overseeing its resources, faculty, staff, and budgets. This role requires accountability for the department's performance in meeting the expectations set forth by the College, University administration, faculty, and students. Key responsibilities include managing teaching assignments, overseeing faculty scholarly activities, and fostering involvement in funded research. The department provides essential coursework leading to various degrees within the College.
This is a full-time, 12-month appointment at the rank of Associate Professor or Professor, depending on prior academic experience. The successful candidate must hold a doctorate degree (Pharm.D. and/or Ph.D.), with residency or fellowship experience preferred, and possess a minimum of ten (10) years of teaching experience in higher education. Candidates must demonstrate recent experience in teaching and/or professional practice in their field of expertise. Strong leadership, mentorship, administrative, and resource development skills are essential. The candidate should also have a comprehensive understanding of current trends in pharmaceutical education and a realistic perspective on the role of a pharmacy practice department within a College of Pharmacy. A proven track record of collegiality and collaboration is also required.
Priority consideration will be given to candidates with extramural research funding and prior administrative or leadership experience in an academic healthcare professional department.
